Can you tell I'm a bit obsessed with pumpkins?

Pumpkin Deliciousness
It's almost fall and you know what my favorite part is (hint: the title)? PUMPKIN! I love pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pasties (Harry Potter reference), and pumpkin steamed milks. It's so delicious and of course, who doesn't love to carve them for Halloween? But you know what else is amazing about pumpkin? It's seriously nutritious. Here is an amazing article about the wonderful pluses of pumpkin. So now that it's fall, go out and eat pumpkin!

Weekend Recap & Wonderful News
How was everyone's weekends?
On Friday I went to my old high school's football game with my best guy friend. We didn't stay long because we didn't know anyone and it was just plain boring. I did get to enjoy the nasty yellow cheesy nachos from when I was a cheerleader there. And surprisingly I actually remember the cheers!
On Saturday I went out shopping with my mom all day and bought some unnecessarily necessary stuff. I even got a blender for $18! $18! I love buying stuff like that during college sales because some of the coolest house stuff is on sale. I got some cute new stuff for me and even thought of Allan and bought him a DVD of X-Men First Class.
On Sunday I helped my mom bake cookies for the recruiting offices in our building complex. It was a rough day, but I did get to see my Bears beat the snot out of the Falcons! I love sending good news to Allan about our football teams. I also had a Zumba class earlier that day that just about kicked my butt. My teachers are insanely hard and I feel like I'm back in cheerleading rather than a class at my gym. My legs were definitely feeling the burn!
Also this weekend, I got Allan's first letter! Now, it wasn't a handwritten one with news of how he's doing, but it did give me his address so I can actually send him the wheelbarrow full of letters I've written (kidding...sort of). I found out his graduation is sooner than we thought. He graduates next month! Crazy huh? I'm so excited to see him and so proud of him! I hope I get a handwritten letter soon so I know how he's doing.

WIAW!
Well, it's been a week since my first WIAW and a week since Allan left. I haven't received anything from him yet, but hopefully this week I should get a letter from him. I'm excited to know how everything is going and I'm definitely ready to send out my massive amount of letters I've written him so far.
So let's start the WIAW party with Jenn @ Peas & Crayons!
Since Allan left I haven't been cooking too much, but I'm finally hitting my groove around the house. I started heading to the gym again and kicked my butt at Zumba last night. The cats know he's gone and have been really super needy and are constantly trying to be on my lap. Once I get his first letter I'll let you all know (fingers crossed this week!).

Weekend Recap
Happy Labor Day everyone! It's been a pretty nice weekend for my first weekend without Allan. I've had my down times, but not many. What did you all do this weekend?
Friday one of my best friends slept over and we had a typical girl sleepover. Junk food, chick movies, and gossip. And our loot?
Sugar high much? I ate so much sugar and was so high on a Rockstar that I was up for 40 hours straight. No joke. 40 hours.
Saturday I ended up hanging around the house and then going to Target with my mom. I got a kickass floor lamp, a much needed mattress pad, a few other things.
Sunday I did some cleaning and just hung out with my stepdad. It's been a very quiet relaxing weekend. I'm excited for my first letter from Allan so I know how he's doing and I can bombard him with letters.
Hope you're all having a relaxing, safe weekend.

The Start of Our Journey
Yesterday Allan left for his 2 day journey to boot camp. He left here and headed up to San Jose to stay at a hotel before flying out tomorrow. We were thankfully able to talk to each other last night before he left this morning. It's been hard to not have him around, but I think we (the kitties and I) are adjusting pretty well. Obviously there are hard moments, but what are chocolate and ice cream for right? Haha. Anyway, I heard from him tonight once he got to boot camp. He got a very short call to let me know he got there safely and I don't think I could have told him I was proud of him enough. He says he's got processing all tonight so he won't be sleeping until tomorrow night. Crazy huh? I'm so so so excited for November to roll up so I can see him again and then we can talk much more often than once a week when he can send a letter. Once he can start writing letters (hopefully this Sunday!!) then I can keep everyone updated on how he's faring over in Illinois.
As for my healthy eating, well, I'm going to try to keep it healthy while he's gone. I don't have to cook as much food and sometimes I won't want to even bother making a meal. But I found the most delicious t.v. dinner at Trader Joe's. It was low-fat mac and cheese. I've had microwave mac and cheese before and it wasnasty unpleasant. This one from Trader Joe's though was absolutely delicious!! Seriously though, go buy it. Obviously I haven't worried too much with healthy eating as I've been eating Butterfingers and Snickers ice cream for the past two days. Once I get out of my funk I'll hop back onto the healthy food wagon and keep plowing through!
And since this is the last picture I'll have of us until he graduates here is my hunky Navy man!
